FEMININE MOVEMENT MEDITATION

What Is Feminine Movement Meditation?

Feminine movement meditation is a guided movement practice that uses simple movement, intuitive expression and grounding meditation to help women reconnect with their bodies and become more present.

It is not a dance class. There is no choreography to learn and no right way to move.

Shemotion sessions are women-only, and no dance experience is required.

A moving practice

Movement as Meditation

Traditional meditation often asks you to become still. Feminine movement meditation begins with movement instead.

Rather than focusing on how movement looks, the attention is placed on how it feels. Guided prompts help you notice your breath, body, tension, energy and emotions while allowing movement to develop naturally.

For women who find it difficult to switch off, sit still or get out of their heads, movement can provide another way to become present.

Two ways into presence

Guided Movement and Intuitive Movement

The practice balances enough guidance to help you begin with enough freedom to listen to your own body.

Guided movement

Simple prompts offer a place to start. The focus is not on copying perfect shapes, but on noticing breath, sensation and how movement feels from within.

Intuitive movement

As the practice opens, you can respond in your own way. Movement may be gentle, expressive, powerful or still, without choreography or pressure to perform.

A Shemotion session moves from guided movement into intuitive movement and finishes with grounding meditation.

Is It a Dance Class?

No - and that's an important distinction.

Shemotion does not teach routines, steps or dance technique. You are not expected to follow choreography or perform for anyone.

Movement is used as a form of meditation and personal expression. Some guidance is provided, but each woman is encouraged to respond in a way that feels comfortable for her own body.

You do not need dance experience, flexibility or a particular fitness level.

Space to move your way
